Week 3 Recap 11/30/14Updated Thursday December 4, 2014 by AUBL Miami.
|South Miami Mariners||3|
It was a beautiful day for baseball at Archbishop Coleman Carroll. The game would start off being competitive as it was a pitcher's duel through 6 innings. Player of the week Mike Casanova pitched great for The Diamondbacks 8 IP, 2 ER, 13 K, 3 BB, 6 hits. Getting his first start of the season for The Mariners on the mound was Adam Samuels. He would go 2 innings as he is trying to ease back into playing form, but was dominant recording 5 strikeouts in 2 innings. Ran into some problems in the 2nd inning walking 2 batters and allowing a run but was able to regroup and strikeout the side. Darryl Roque would then come in for The Mariners and he too was dominant for his first 4 innings of relief. However, from the 7th inning on, the Mariners would lose focus defensively and the Diamondbacks bats would come through with clutch hitting. The Diamondbacks would score 9 runs on 8 hits in the final 3 innings to seal the win. The Mariners didn't do much to help their case offensively, striking out 13 times collectively as a team. There were some bright spots in the offense however, Nick Silva would continue his hot start going 2-4 with 2 RBI's and his 2nd homerun of the season. Andres "Chicho" Vengochea would make his debut going 2-3. For The Diamondbacks, Luis Sosa, Adrian Fajin, and Eric Rios had 2 hits apiece. 9 Diamondbacks players recorded hits in a balanced attack.

|South Florida Sox||1|
South Florida Sox pitching had a solid outing but the Tigers chipped away with timely hits and great base running to win their 2nd in a row. Tigers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first off Rbi’s by Rafa Quintero and Garvi Arias. The Tigers would add another run in the top of the 2nd when Carlos Javier singled to left and then scored after stealing 2nd and two consecutive passed balls. Four more would follow in the 4th, 5th, and 6th and that was enough for Tigers pitching to do what they do. Four Tigers pitchers combined for 16 strike outs, 0 BB, 3 hits, and 1 run with Phenom Jose Batatina-Blanco leading the way. Batatina-Blanco followed up last weeks POTW performance with another steller performance. Out of the 16 batters he faced he had 11 strike outs, 0 BB, 1 hit, and 0 Runs in 5 innings of work. Relievers Albert Gonzalez and Ryan Paylor combined for 3 k’s with Rafa Quintero closing it out striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced. The Dade Tigers now look forward to facing Team Venzuela in what promises to be a great game.
