This game was a well anticipated matchup between the returning league champion Nationals and FIU's 1st ever AUBL Miami contest. The game did not disappoint. AUBL Miami returning CY Young award winner Gaby Lorenzo took the bump for The Nationals and was extremely effective in his 4 innings of work. The only run for FIU in the 1st 4 innings came on a solo homerun by David Weiss for a 1-0 FIU lead. Meanwhile, FIU's Jason Gutierrez also pitched extremely well, holding the high powered Nats offense scoreless in the 1st 4 innings. For FIU, Jason Vila came in to pitch and for The Nats, Frankie Lorenzo would come in to pitch and surrender a 2 run homerun to Alex Aguirre for a 3-1 FIU lead. Nats manager Yusbell Ortega drove in the Nats 1st run in the 6th as the drama would build toward the 9th inning. Just as had happened last week vs Team Venezuela, Nats Gilbert Garcia with 2 outs in the 9th inning, delivered the game winning hit for and exciting Nats win 5-4. FIU will play Team Venezuela next week in what promises to be another exciting game!

Team Venezuela         6
South Florida Sox        4

This game was close and exciting from start to finish. When playing against the machine known as Team Venezuela things can't be given to them and that's exactly what The Sox did. In the 3rd inning 3 costly errors were the difference In the game . Team Venezuela scored 4 runs that inning and never looked back. Sox fought back  to make it 6-4 with the tying runners on 2nd and 3rd but team captain Marlon Rodriguez could not come through.

Dade Tigers                          5
South Miami Mariners           6

The Mariners faced off against the 1st place Dade Tigers in a back and forth battle that would ultimately end in a 6-5 walk off victory for The Mariners. Even though the Mariners allowed 4 unearned runs in the game they were still able to fight through those errors to secure the win with some much needed clutch hitting. Offensively the Mariners were led once again by Nick Silva who went 2-4 with 2 doubles and the game winning RBI. Maikel Reyes would also have a big game going 1-2 with an RBI double off the left field wall that was 2 feet from being a homerun and a Sac Fly RBI. Ulrichel Pena would also continue his good hitting with a 2-4 day in the box and some heads up base running. Lead off hitter Ramses Tur would continue his patience at the plate drawing 2 walks in the game. David Monteagudo and Isaac Seoane would each add hits in the game. On the mound, the Mariners were led once again by the 1-2 combo of Adam Samuels and Darryll Roque. Adam would start the game and go 3 innings compiling 4 K's and 2 unearned runs giving up no hits. Darryll Roque would continue to be the workhorse pitching the final 4 innings allowing just 2 hits and striking out 5 batters for the victory. With the victory, the Mariners were able to bring their record to .500 and will look to avenge their loss to the Dade Diamondbacks earlier in the season this coming Sunday.

It was another perfect day for baseball at Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School. The visiting Diamondbacks scored 2 runs in the 1st inning on hits from Luis Sosa, Ivan Asencion and Fabian Hance. Diamondbacks manager Jay Habacht took the mound as a last minute replacement starter. After Sea Dogs Gio Palma reached on error, Habacht retired the side in order, striking out 2 batters for a 2-0 Diamondbacks lead after 1 inning. Neither team scored in the 2nd and 3rd inning as Sea Dogs Joe Feller and Diamondbacks Jay Habacht were locked in a pitcher's duel. The pitcher's duel was broken in the 4th inning when The Diamondbacks scored 10 runs on 10 hits for a Diamondbacks 12-0 lead. Meanwhile, Diamondbacks pitcher Jay Habacht was on cruise control. The 46 year old pitcher threw a NO HITTER, after not having pitched at all in any of the 6 games this season! The Diamondbacks scored another 2 runs in the 5th inning for a 14-0 score. Habacht removed himself from the game after the 5th inning with the game already decided for a final stat line of 5 IP, 0 Runs, 0 Hits, 5 K's, 1 BB / offensively 1-2, RBI. The Diamondbacks would add another 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning for a 16-0 lead. The Sea Dogs would tack on a late run to avoid the shutout on hits from Alex Cuadra, Carmello Follo and Joe Feller off reliever Mario Figueredo for a 16-1 final score. Don't let the lopsided score fool you. The Sea Dogs have a revamped team and an excellent offensive lineup. Look for The Sea Dogs to upset some of AUBL Miami's top teams in the very near future! For The Diamondbacks, Fabian Hance was 4-4, 2B and Pedro Lugo was 3-4 with 3 doubles. Luis Sosa, Ivan Asencion, Emilio Medina, Melvin Catagena and Danny Leon each had 2 hits apiece.
