Game summary
by Miguel Garcia - Coral Gables A's
Led by a first inning 2 run HR from Luis Cabral and a complete game masterpiece from Alex Arteaga, the A's started the season with a 6-1 win over the Sox on Sunday.  The A's put up 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning and this would prove to be more than enough for Arteaga who was dominant on Sunday striking out 16 en route to a complete game win as he gave up only 1 run on 6 hits. Offensively, the A's combined for 9 hits and 7 walks.   Pee Wee Rodriguez and Juan Quesada led the way as both players went 2-2 and reached base safely 3 times apiece.  Carlos Alvarez singled in the 6th and quickly stole 2nd and 3rd and scored on an errant throw to 3rd.  Albert Jardines doubled in the 3rd.  Chicho Vengoechea and Yasmany Thondike added hits.  All in all, a good start to the season for the A's.

Hans Waltemath started for The Diamondbacks vs Ernesto Albitez for The Marlins. In the top of the 1st inning, The Diamondbacks scored 2 runs on a leadoff triple from newcomer Yerandy Martinez (Spring 2014 AUBL Miami MVP) and RBI hits from Maikel Reyes and Fabian Hance. In the 2nd inning, The Diamondbacks scored 3 runs, highlighted by Luis Sosa's RBI hit for a 5-0 lead. The Marlins scored 1 run on hits by Carlos Garcia, Jorge "Chewy" Correa, and Jose Gutierrez for a 5-1 Diamondbacks lead after 2 innings. After a scoreless 3rd inning, The Diamondbacks added 5 runs in the 4th inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and opened up a 10-1 lead. The Diamondbacks would go on to cruise to a 14-3 victory over a very good Marlins team. Hans Waltemath pitched very well for the Diamondbacks (W, 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 4 K, 5 BB). Jay Habacht pitiched the final 2 innings (2 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB). Yerandy Martinez was sensational in his Diamondbacks debut (3-3, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI, RS, 2 SB, BB) and made a great catch in center field to prevent The Marlins from rallying early on. Other notables were Luis Sosa (2-2, 2 RBI, 3 RS, SB, 2 BB), Mario Figueredo (1-1, 2 RS, 2 SB, 2 BB) and Fabian Hance (2-4, RBI, RS). It was a great team effort on offense and defense for the Diamondbacks 1st win of the season!
